Articulated Chain Necklace, 2018

This necklace was the final assessment piece Nicola submitted in her first year of studies in 2018 at the Australian National University's (then) Gold and Silversmithing workshop.

At the end of her first year of studies at ANU, Nicola received the Boronia Prize for Excellence Gold & Silversmithing.

This piece explores the movement and articulation of sterling silver through handmade chain. The chain is made with conventional round links, and less conventional 'leaf-shaped' links that are slightly concave in order to compliment the shape of the wearer's body. The necklace is comprised of three layers of chain, each layer made from different thicknesses of sterling silver wire.
